F FOOTNOTES-1
When
blocked to the point of interrupting the blood flow aimed at the
rest of the heart and general circulation, collateral vessels can take over by
becoming bigger and active so that two sources of blood can continue to
provide nutrients to this portion of the heart. That can happen with the narrowing of the coronary
vessels like in smoking and diabetes mellitus. Shortly, collateral vessels are
instrumental for survival in case of MI.
